Top 100 Marketing Trends in May

From Revamped Ice Cream Shops to AR-Powered Vodka Campaigns:

Although the May 2022 marketing trends span a wide range of industries -- such as food and beverage, fashion, gaming, consumer electronics, home decor, etc. -- brands belonging to these seemingly disparate sectors appeared to be leveraging similar tools and tactics in order to capture consumer attention. Most notably, these include the implementation of augmented reality activations, Web3 branding campaigns, and sustainability-focused initiatives.

This month, major brands continued to lean on interactive AR-powered campaigns in an effort to break through the marketing noise and engage shoppers in a playful and novel way. For instance, to celebrate its 25th anniversary, Tito's Vodka launched a series of AR-enabled retail displays that, once scanned via a smartphone camera, trigger an interactive story about the company's origins. More extravagantly, Samsung teamed up with design studio teamLab to open an immersive art exhibit called 'Catching and Collecting in the Sacred Forest,' which invites guests to explore a digital forest and catch rare animals using their Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
