From Funny Faced Vino to Dracula-Inspired Wines
Laura McQuarrie — March 7, 2014 — Marketing
Just like a good vino, these novelty wine bottles embrace a range of qualities from sweet and light to deep and a little bit dark. Bold typography, personification and the integration of technology are some of the techniques used to deliver a strong story for these unique wines.
Compared to some other alcoholic beverages, wine is typically thought of as a sophisticated drink, but the way it is labeled can easily change this perception. Two perfect examples of this include Natasha Shubaly’s boxed wine kit, which encourages drinkers to write on it like a Mad Lib, and the 'Urine Therapy' wine with a title that makes it clear what its pale yellow coloring is being compared to.
Some more unconventional designs include themes like bondage, which seems to be having a moment right now in pop culture and fashion. This is coming through in wine packaging, as seen in the designs for the official Fifty Shades of Grey and Bliss Fruit wines.
