Top 40 Architecture Trends in May

From Durable Solar-Powered Tiny Homes to Rural Modular Farms:

This list of May 2022 architecture trends shows that designers are focused on small, efficient personal housing solutions as well as large-scale tourist attractions. There is a large demand for affordable personal housing, such as houses built out of shipping containers or built entirely out of sustainable wood.

One of the most interesting innovations in personal architecture this month comes from Bulachon, which created the 'Tiny House Petillante.' This small house is built into a trailer, allowing it to be moved by a truck. While many personal homes place an emphasis on bedroom and dining room space, the Tiny House Petillante directs its focus at its impressive kitchen. In fact, the bedroom for the house is on a raised second floor above the kitchen, which is accessible by a small ladder.

When it comes to large-scale tourist attractions, the Japanese community center by Sou Fujimoto is an excellent mix of form and function. The community center is a large inverted dome with grass covering the entire surface, with the exception of several holes for buildings to reach out from. This allows visitors to relax on the grass while bathing in the sun.
