A beautiful, design-forward, and secluded lightweight home is taking up space in the rural countryside of France. Created by Paris-based studio Ciguë, the silhouette of the building forms a stark contrast with the surrounding area—both in the sense of nature's greenery, as well as in the structural sense—the lightweight home subtly contrasts other buildings in the area that feature a more traditional stone facade.
The lightweight home by Ciguë is dubbed The Wooden House. The structure is relatively simple. It is clad in blackened timber which highlights an elegant aesthetic. The foundations that elevate the home and even out the terrain for the structure are made out of steel. In order to complete this design, the firm referenced houses built in 1960s California.
