The House Special Studio Designs a Compact Apartment
Amy Duong — January 8, 2025 — Art & Design
New York-based design firm The House Special Studio first designed a compact Parisian apartment and it has undergone some renovations with influences drawn from the 70s in terms of the color palette and style. The renovation elevates the space as the one-bedroom apartment acts as a pied-à-terre for the client who's working with an international NGO and spends a lot of time living abroad.
Goti spoke to Dezeen more about the design process, noting "The challenge of this project was to make a compact functional space that, despite its small size, has areas with different character. Sometimes people think that uniform white is more appropriate for small spaces, but here we argue that a small space can feel bigger if colour is used strategically to frame different areas and create distinct zones."
