From Revamped Museum Interiors to Playful Furniture Exhibits
Jana Pijak — August 27, 2023 — Art & Design
These August 2023 design trends range from revamped museum interiors to playful furniture exhibits.
A standout example of modernized historic architecture is Studio Besau-Marguerre's recent four-and-a-half-month renovation of the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg (MK&G). The design studio revamped the art institution's foyer and worked to elevate guest safety and experience. The finished space is enriched with vibrant colors and patterns, while new lockers and signage aid with wayfinding.
SFMOMA's recent furniture exhibit, titled 'Conversation Pieces: Contemporary Furniture in Dialogue,' is another notable example. The exhibit which ran until June of this year was home to 45 furniture and decor pieces by renowned designers like Jay Sae Jung Oh and Germane Barnes. Each piece was meant to spark conversation while celebrating a fusion of both art and functionality.
