In celebration of the Renault Twingo's 30th anniversary, designer Sabine Marcelis created a conceptual version of the electric car. This car design, originally released in 1993, has been reimagined with an inside-out design, complete with a translucent steering wheel.
This design plays up some of the most distinctive features of the car design, including its frog-like headlights and modular interior. As Marcelis describes, "My challenge was to elevate them without losing their unique identity, to bring all elements into a more luxurious realm, activated by light and materiality." Notably, the design also includes all-white wheels, a white chassis, and a and warm color on the inside that elevates the classic red associated with the model.
This design shown at the Centre Pompidou in Paris was retrofitted with an electric motor to represent Renault's aim to make all of its cars across Europe electric by 2030.
