West of West Wins an AIA Competition in San Francisco
Kalin Ned — July 20, 2023 — Art & Design
As populations grow in urban centers and housing is becoming scarce, many architects and designers are seeking solutions in the built environment and this co-living neighborhood is a great example. Proposed by US architecture studio West of West, Sunset Steps is a multi-family building complex "65 percent of its site used as shared greenspaces to foster community among residents." The structure boasts adaptable living units that will allow homeowners to live in, rent or renovate over the years. The design features natural materials, expansive corner windows, and sustainable building techniques. The architecture firm also claims that the units, if realized, will be affordable.
