Stone Island's Munich store recently opened its doors to the public and besides the slick and somewhat futuristic interior aesthetics one might expect from the brand, the brick-and-mortar establishment also emphasizes the importance of community. In fact, the shop was designed to be "part store, part community hub."
The retail space, which measures 360 square meters, was once again designed by AMO, "the conceptual studio of architectural firm OMA." The designers employed a variety of interesting materials—from stainless steel elements to paper-like ceiling light boxes.
Aside from the eye-catching aesthetics, AMO and Stone Island celebrate the community with various in-store engagement features. For instance, the retail space boasts a multi-functional auditorium that could be used for community events. Inviting the public into the store in this way allows Stone Island to honor its cult community following.
