SUNRIU Design's Tai Side Table is Sustainability-Conscious
References: yankodesign & behance.net
SUNRIU Design has launched a sleek flat-pack side table that embraces the circular economy. Dubbed the 'Tai Side Table,' the designers repurposed discarded metal sheets in the manufacturing process. State-of-the-art laser-cutting and bending techniques were employed to produce an elegant and functional silhouette for the furniture piece.
The design of the flat-pack side table also carries spiritual connotations. SUNRIU Design drew inspiration from the iconic Luce Chapel by IM Pei in its quest to infuse the home with elements of Asian culture and spirituality. The overall silhouette symbolizes a person bowing their head and praying—this "promotes a serene environment for meditation or contemplation."
Because of its design, which is modular and space-saving, the flat-pack side table can address the challenges of smaller modern homes.
