Farm 8 is an artists' residence and studio in Delhi, India. The structure was "designed for a collective of artists exploring a sustainable, waste-free method of living known as permaculture." Indian architecture practice Studio Array was commissioned for this project.
Farm 8's building stands out with its seamless blending of old and new sensibilities. The material palette was deliberately simple, consisting predominantly of raw materials. Studio Array experimented with hand-woven bamboo screens, in particular. These features create a harmonious connection between the interior spaces and the outside. The visually striking element will also change color with time, adding a dimension of dynamism to the built environment.
The Farm 8 building will double as a residence for the artists and as a site for public engagement programs.
