A restored art deco hotel draws attention to itself on the streets of Santa Monica, California. The "distinctive turquoise facade" is certainly hard to miss from Ocean Avenue and the water. Originally erected in 1933, The Georgian hotel was renovated by design studio Fettle.
Fettle refreshed the structure's striking facade and arranged the interior aesthetic to reflect the building's long heritage. Key design stand-outs in the lobby space, for example, include the high ceilings, the intricacies of the original reliefs, and the iconic geometrically patterned floors. The furniture also boldly contributes to the ambiance of the restored art deco hotel. The Sunset Bar, for instance, is positioned "to exaggerate the symmetry of the architectural details."
