Paola Zamudio of npz studio+ and artist Sebastien Courty joined forces to create an extraordinary project called The Fabric of Bell. The initiative celebrates the iconic Bell Works and its rich history of innovation. Commissioned by Ralph Zucker, The Fabric of Bell figures as “a sub-collection from the in-house art collection of Totem, A Wall’s Jewelry.”
The artwork, located in the Bell Works’ atrium, is made primarily from recycled cables. These were sourced from the original Bell Labs, which was previously a Nobel Prize-winning research facility. The use of repurposed materials also highlights Bell Works' commitment to sustainability. The cables were cut and handwoven into separate panels using a floor loom. The vibrant colors and intricate patterns represent the interconnected systems of technology and communication within the building.
