These typography design innovations range from typeface-inspired board games to furniture brand fonts. While Swedish furniture retailer IKEA recently launched an exclusive font in partnership with Proximity London -- titled 'Soffa Sans' and created using its VALLENTUNA sofa planning software -- creative agency Felix Salut launched a revamped version of the 'Galapagos Game,' the has players re-arrange abstract, geometric shapes to create text.

Adobe's mobile font access is another notable example. The software giant recently made its vast font library of 17,000 typefaces available to select iOS devices, giving creatives a chance to access desktop-only fonts via their smartphone or tablet.

Other typography design innovations include OMSE's recent 3D typography project that is brought to life with augmented reality technology. The London-based design studio teamed up with Printworks London, the team that commissioned the project -- and gives life and movement to static text.
