Designtex is one of the most progressive companies in the realm of manufacturing applied materials and it worked together with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation to form the Elemental Wright collection. It is comprised of textiles and wall coverings as well as custom materials that are made with inspiration from Wright's design principles. Similar to his work, the patterns are inspired by the concept of bringing the outdoors into the indoor space to nourish wellbeing. Nature is filled with color and geometric patterns -- that are translated through the various upholstery and textiles.
Design director for Designtex, Sara Balderi states, “Frank Lloyd Wright’s design principles predate concepts that are ubiquitous in wellness discussions today, like biophilic design, human-centered design, and evidence-based design – the emphasis on our innate human tendency to seek connections within nature. These principles couldn’t be more important as commercial environments, and the people who work in them undergo some of the biggest shifts we’ve seen in recent decades and crave connection to nature.”
