Danish design studio Karakter unveils a new dining and lounge chair to its roster -- both of these were made with inspiration drawn from the '60s duo Afra and Tobia Scarpa. These are dubbed the 925 Scarpa lounge chair and the 121 Scarpa dining chair. Both of these are defined by the shared feature of a cutout at the backrests shaped like a keyhole followed by the double trestle framing and rounded joinery.
Together, it create an elegant and sophisticated language with a sturdy aesthetic. The dining chair is influenced by a specific sketch made by designer and architect Carlo Scarpa. It has an upright position with a narrow frame whereas the lounge chair sits lower and wider for a more relaxed look.
