Top 100 Media Trends in 2015

From Full-Figured Swimsuit Ads to Hairy Disney Princesses:

The top 2015 media trends reflect a variety of challenges made against body stereotypes this year. Today's audiences will no longer accept one body type or one sexual orientation as the norm from the media. To appeal to these progressive minds, brands are recruiting new models and brand ambassadors to promote and endorse these new ways of thinking.

Fashion is an industry typically recognized in the media for spotlighting and emphasizing a skinny or petite frame, but many brands -- both couture and contemporary -- are moving away from this. Sports Illustrated featured plus-sized model Ashley Graham in its swimsuit edition this year and other brands are prioritizing a more diverse runway.

The upcoming documentary 'A Perfect 14,' which profiles plus-sized models, also generated positive reactions from body image experts and fashion fans across the world.

Pop culture-inspired art is also being influenced by these new norms. A variety of Disney art such as the make-up free Elsa, full-figured Disney drawings and the introduction of a Latina Disney princess all point to the changing landscape.
