Most adults looking back at their best childhood memories will come across fond memories of eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, marshmallows, cookies and other sweet nostalgic food treats. These simple ingredients are now being remixed into entirely new creations in order to offer even more ways that they can be enjoyed. A few great examples of this include chewing gum that tastes like birthday cake, Peeps-flavored frozen yogurt and milkshakes made with crumbled Oreo cookies.

General Mills chose to amplify what a child would consider the best part of its Lucky Charms product by creating a marshmallow-only version of its breakfast cereal. Similarly, since biting into the filling of a Cadbury chocolate is the most satisfying part of the eating experience, the brand created the 'Spectacular 7' multi-flavored chocolate bar.

Some of the most inventive nostalgic food reinterpretations use Rice Krispie treats as the base for everything from sandwiches and cakes to popsicle-inspired snacks.
