Even Though Hello Kitty is Not a Cat, These Products Are Purr-fect
Laura McQuarrie — August 28, 2014 — Pop Culture
In a recent LA Times article on the upcoming display of Hello Kitty paraphernalia that will be shown at the Japanese American National Museum, anthropologist Christine R. Yano from the University of Hawaii made a bold claim: "Hello Kitty is not a cat."
Although feline-like in appearance, Hello Kitty is never shown walking on all fours, and she even keeps a pet cat of her own by the name of Charmmy Kitty. Rather than being a cat, it's suggested that she's really just a cartoon girl. Even though this announcement has shaken up Hello Kitty fans all over the world, this won't stop an endless number of cute Hello Kitty products from being made, including everything from contact lenses to toasters, cosmetics and tech accessories.
