These examples of dynamic outdoor billboards are a far cry from static advertisements of the past. In order to compete with other more engaging forms of advertising, large-scale billboards are being redesigned with highly interactive and responsive elements.
For instance, McDonald's set up a billboard that displayed an image of a whipped cream-topped drink where the height of the topping was altered to reflect expected amount of expected snowfall. While this design responds to environmental factors, Netflix created a series of ads for its Daredevil series that allowed the public to modify the appearance of the billboards through Twitter.
