From Sci-Fi Vinyl Collectibles to 3D-Printed Awards Statuettes
Joey Haar — April 1, 2017 — Pop Culture
With awards season having just rounded out after a stunningly bizarre Oscars finale, the March 2017 pop culture trends reflect that starlit afterglow. But beyond just the content that fills the stage during the Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, and even the Tonys, pop culture in March of 2017 includes things like sports and even dining.
The Oscars are undoubtedly the biggest awards event of the season, and products have sprung up to reflect that event itself as well as the films that populate it. For example, the actual statuettes used in the 89th Annual Academy Awards were created through additive manufacturing — better known as 3D printing. Further, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, an Oscar nominated film, has had its soundtrack made into a specially printed vinyl.
