The Xtra Moenia art installation will certainly brighten anyone's day as they pass through San Gennaro North Gate during this year's annual Feast of San Gennaro Festival, New York City's biggest and longest-running religious event. The beautiful thing about the Xtra Moenia installation is that it isn't blatantly religious, thus it will not ostracize those who are not particularly devout. Instead, it welcomes everyone to the festival with open arms.
Sesigned and produced by SOFTlab, the Xtra Moenia art installation takes on a geometric, ocular shape that was crafted out of mylar, aluminum grommets, photo gels and aluminum pipe. Made up of exactly 4224 laser-cut panels, the Xtra Moenia art installation hangs over heads, defining a colorful zone on the street for pedestrians.
