Do Lab Created a Range of Fabric Mushrooms at Coachella
Amy Duong — April 25, 2024 — Art & Design
Los Angeles-based design studio Do Lab designed a series of fabric mushrooms that were integrated during this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. It featured nine large sculptures that were scattered throughout the field where attendees were able to relax for some shade and rest. There were nine in total and it appeared to be mushroom-like pods that were supported by 12 metallic arms that held strips of colorful fabric. It had hues of deep magenta, bright orange, and aqua blue.
Co-founder of Do Lab, Jesse Flemming notes, "In the early years, we used to do sculptures and make kind of beautiful gardens that got bigger and bigger. In the last three structures, we started to get away from sculptural elements towards building giant tent-like structures. But this year, we're going back to our roots. It's going to feel like you're dancing in this really trippy forest instead of under a tent."
