Karawitz Architecture has created a Passivhaus design, which is a house faced southward to fully utilize the solar gain. Located in Bessancourt, France, the house can receive too much heat in the summer days.
To shade from the intense heat in the summer, Karawitz Architecture has covered the Passivhaus in bamboo screens. When the screens are all closed up, the building takes on a traditional barn shape. I can only imagine the intense light that shines through the building on beautiful summer days. Ah, the life.
