In Honor of the Pantone Radiant Orchid Color of the Year for 2014
Laura McQuarrie — December 17, 2013 — Fashion
Not too long ago, the Color of the Year for 2014 was announced as Pantone Radiant Orchid. Whereas Emerald the color chosen for 2013 represented growth and renewal, this warm purpley hue is associated with inspiration, innovation and originality for the coming year.
The color was seen multiple times on the runways during Spring 2014 fashion shows from designers and fashion houses like Yoana Baraschi, Juicy Couture and Emerson by Jackie Fraser-Swan. As Pantone’s pick for Color of the Year, the hue’s influence on fashion will not end here.
As Pantone notes, it’s a “multifaceted hue” that is flattering for many different skin tones, as well as eye and hair colors. Since it’s a pinkish color, it lends itself much better to beauty and lipsticks especially, moreso than last year’s Emerald color could.
