GAAGA Designs the Forest Bath Building Framed by Tree Trunks
Amy Duong — March 15, 2023 — Art & Design
Dutch architecture studio GAAGA created the Forest Bath residential building that is located in the forested Bosrijik park in Eindhoven. It is notably wrapped by colonnades of tree trunks for a nature-themed look and it is inspired by a Japanese practice, which surrounds the idea of spending time in nature.
GAAGA speaks about the design, stating that "The design is inspired by the Japanese practice shinrin-yoku, in which you immerse yourself in the forest, taking in nature using all your senses to calm your body and mind. With a balanced design, subdued aesthetics, use of natural materials, people- and environment-friendly sustainability principles and above all, a strong connection between the resident, building and the forested landscape, we turn the project into a modern residential building in harmony with its natural surroundings."
