Hibinosekkei + Youji No Shiro have designed a nature-focused nursery in Atsugi, Japan. Hibinosekkei + Youji No Shiro specializes in designing children's facilities; they were inspired by nearby forests to inform this new project.
The architects wanted to create a space where young children could play and explore. To achieve this, they incorporated numerous nature-inspired elements. Across the nursery's second floor are various potted plants that bring the outdoors indoors. Even the walls of the nursery are adorned with forest-like mosaics and wallpapers.
The designers chose rich wood flooring that further evokes a feeling of the outdoors. Contrastingly, the numerous mirrored walls and exposed beams create an opposing industrial feel. Ultimately the design successfully blends nature with industrialism to produce a warm, inviting, and exploratory environment for children,
