This may look like a yummy collection of Chinese food snacks, but it's actually a cute tea packaging concept. The concept, created by Toronto-based student Lily Kao, infuses the designer's ethnic roots. She created 'Teassert' to be a tea company that packages its teas to resembles bite-sized food. Each bag is packaged as a type of Chinese delicacy called “Siu Mai," which is essentially “Dim Sum.”
The practice of carrying around little drink and food boxes originates from Guangzhou, China; early tea houses provided them for travelers and workers in need of a snack on-the-go. The packs usually contained tea and dumplings, so Lily replicated them for her project.
The packaging is also reusable and comes with a recipe for Siu Mai, bookmarks and bamboo coasters. Hopefully she decides to make this concept a reality because it would make for the cutest gift!
