From Stackable Chairs to Unique Shape-Shifting Architecture
Amy Duong — May 25, 2019 — Art & Design
The May 2019 design concepts explore old and new ways of creation through a variety of different mediums. These examples broaden out to cover design ideas of all sorts without holding creative expression to any bounds. Some of the standout examples this month include the progressive architectural design by Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Rockwell Group.
It created 'The Shed' in New York in a flexible manner -- the building functions as an art hub and hosts events with space along with a 500 seat theater. The most notable element of the design is that it is a shape-shifting structure, with the ability to extend and engulf the dynamic roof. The 'Form Us With Love' design firm introduces a great design example this month as well, with the series of stackable chairs. It features five different looks that are made with oak to deliver aesthetics and functionality.
