From Carbon Negative Bamboo Sneakers to Chunky Minimalist Clogs
Colin Smith — July 24, 2022 — Fashion
One of the most common patterns reflected in this list of July 2022 shoes trends is sustainability, many shoemakers are attempting to use recycled materials, upscaled materials, and biodegradable materials in footwear to push the carbon footprint of the industry downward.
The 'Nimbo' from YY Nation is an excellent example of this trend. This pair of shoes is made out of a combination of algae and bamboo, leading to it having an astonishingly low carbon footprint. YY Nation stated that the Nimbo produces three times fewer carbon emissions than most shoes. On top of this, the shoe is recyclable and biodegradable due to its natural materials list.
On the design side, the new mismatched colorway for the 'Nike LeBron 19 Low' silhouette shows shoemakers that maximalist, colorful, non-uniform shoes can still perform quite well. These shoes have an '80s-inspired design reminiscent of colorful event shoes, boasting a retro style combined with modern comfort and functionality.
