74 Next-Gen Batteries

Nano, Eco & Futuristic Tech Solutions That Charge Us Up for CES 2010:

CES, the world’s most biggest consumer electronics show, is a hotbed of next-gen gadgets, batteries and technology. While we’re pumped to see all of the innovations that will spring forth from this tech trade show, we can’t help but wonder what futuristic batteries CES will feature this year.

We’ve covered a number of innovative batteries at Trend Hunter. Whether they’re biodegradable batteries that promise to do no harm to the environment when they’re discarded or eco-friendly batteries made from algae, it’s clear that environmentally-sound batteries are already a major priority for manufacturers and scientists.

Battery innovations aren’t just limited to the green industry, though. Aftermarket manufacturers are harnessing technology that allows them to create batteries that promise to last for 40 hours as well as batteries that are powered by urine, sugar, sodium and kinetic energy.

While futuristic batteries aren’t likely to make the average person’s wish list, these clever designs are a glimpse into what’s in store for the design of next-gen mobile phones, laptops and gadgets. After all, these modern-day must-haves have to be powered by something. And as companies like WePC.com increasingly use crowdsourcing and open-source technology to create their products, it’s only a matter of time before one of these 75 next-gen batteries actually makes it to mass market. We can’t wait.
