Bayer CropScience worked with McCann Canada on Roots Remastered, the world's first country music album made from corn. Creating this unique album involved collecting biorhythms from flourishing corn roots, then converting the notes into MIDI sequences, and then synthesizing them.
Bayer collaborated with audio engineers and singer-songwriters to create melodies, harmonic structures and tempos to turn the harvested sounds into lyrical tracks. In all, there are six songs, each of which is identified by a different corn-themed name like Love Grows High or Can’t Uproot Me. The concept Roots Remastered album is being played on radio stations throughout the country, offering people a chance to listen in on aspects of farm life from the beginning of a corn farmer’s day to the end.
At Canada's Outdoor Farm Show, a live corn concert was held and more than 40,000 people listened to the sounds of healthy corn roots.
