The 'Pinecone' Gazebo is Crafted from Waterproof Plywood Panels
Michael Hemsworth — April 12, 2018 — Art & Design
The 'Pinecone' gazebo has been designed as a charming piece of outdoor architecture that will offer the perfect place to relax, meditate or even get some work done.
Created in collaboration between the MMCITÉ and Atelier SAD design studios, the structure is crafted from 109 waterproof plywood portions that all interconnect to create the aesthetic of a pinecone. The movable design of the structure ensures it doesn't have to be permanently installed into a space, which makes it ideal for temporary placement in a wide array of public or private areas.
Speaking on the design, David Karásek from the MMCITÉ1 design studio, said, "During the design process we were aiming to smash boundaries and move forwards. The Pinecone project was a big challenge for us, because it was more than just a one-dimensional product. Above all it is a versatile structure which works in parks and schools alike. It is on the cutting edge of architecture and design, and can even serve as a meditation space."
