Tikari Works Designs A Room Around a Tree in London
Amy Duong — January 19, 2024 — Art & Design
British design studio Tikari Works introduces a look at its new project dubbed A Room Around a Tree, which is an outbuilding in a South London home. The structure is framed by a latticed timber canopy and designed to carefully weave around a Lebanese cedar tree. The room is designed to have minimal impact on the woodland whilst also forming a versatile space at the interior.
Director of the studio Ty Tikari speaks to Dezeen about the concept behind the design, stating "The core concept of the design is to celebrate the mature cedar tree that is the focal point of the garden whilst creating a flexible space for our client's growing family. The timber beams are extra deep and stained black to create a meditative internal atmosphere and bring the verdant greens of the garden to the foreground."
