Architecture studio Cabinet created the Gardeners House, which is a workshop located in a park in Geneva. It is defined by its blue-stained timber build with terracotta bricks along the exterior of the space. It is found in a forest in the Thônex municipality. The building is a single-story structure and complete with a unique lantern that rests at the top in the form of a spherical light resting in a boxy lantern. When it turns on, it lights up the interior of the workshop and signals to the residents that the gardeners are working.
Fanny Noël and Diogo Lopes, founders of Cabinet explain the project to Dezeen, stating that the Gardeners House is "Surrounded by trees, it would become invisible, but its urban position is at a strategic point at the crossroads of street and park paths, and our ambition was to make it a public building. All of this seemed like good reasons to make the building more visible and to mark its presence in the urban space."
