It's no secret that the music industry hasn't exactly benefited from the online revolution; to stay afloat, music promotion must consistently evolve. This slideshow captures some of the strategies the entertainment industry has employed to get consumers excited about purchasing music, from free album downloads to cannibalistic viral campaigns.
Implications - The music industry has attempted many campaigns to combat the pirating of music; however, consumers are less likely to respond because of the appeal behind the idea that music is free. The industry needs to re-evaluate the concept of purchasing online through connecting with the consumer. Ideas such as album previews shows that the company trusts the consumer to make the choice of whether to purchase the music or not.
