Now it pervades other industries in order to turn a quick buck or make a hilarious impression. Whether adopted for marketing tactics or big tech companies, these selfies have taken a life of their own.
Yet at its core, these examples of narcissistic selfies demonstrate a person's desire to stand out from the crowd and get noticed. Living in an age of followers and likes, it becomes a form of acceptance and affirmation for those who post such photos.
