From Bridge-Borne Art Museums to Sustainable Hotel Designs
Colin Smith — August 27, 2022 — Eco
The August 2022 architecture trends showcase the continual push toward sustainability, efficiency, and modern aesthetics. Many buildings that appear in this list use sustainable materials or building practices, such as incorporating solar panels, algae, and more, into the structures themselves.
One example that blends both sustainability and efficiency is the 'Eco 1.' This is a vertical farm being created by Crop One in Dubai. The Eco 1 is expected to produce more than two million pounds of green foods per year to simultaneously alleviate the strain on the local supply chain. Additionally, the building requires 95% fewer resources than traditional farming methods, making it highly efficient.
The Inhabit Queen's Garden's is a new hotel in London that was designed by Architects Holland Harvey. This hotel is noteworthy as 100% of the waste used during its creation has been recycled, keeping all of it away from landfills. Additionally, the building its largely comprised of sustainable materials such as cork, paper-based fiber composite Richlite, and timber.
