Big’s Biosphere Treehouse at the Treehotel Offers an Immersive Experience
Kalin Ned — June 30, 2022 — Art & Design
It is safe to say that the Biosphere Treehouse at the Treehotel, located in Swedish Lapland, is one of a kind. Designed by the famous Danish architecture studio Bjarke Ingels Group (also known as BIG), the Biosphere Treehouse was brought to life in collaboration with Ulf Öhman, a Swedish ornithologist.
The aim of the Biosphere Treehouse is to present an unforgettable and immersive experience to guests. This is why, perhaps, in addition to being suspended above the ground, the structure is also covered on all sides with 350 birdhouses.
The vision for such an outlandish and unique experience came to Bjarke Ingels when he spent a few days and nights in the Treehotel rooms. Having left feeling "a sense of rejuvenation from complete immersion into nature," the architect thought about how he could take it one step further. The Biosphere Treehouse is the result.
