From Private Ride-Sharing Concepts to Conceptual Plastic Bag Stores
Kalin Ned — May 2, 2020 — Art & Design
The April 2020 design category boasts some implications for usability, improvements to sustainability, and more. One innovative example comes from Seymourpowell. The studio developed a private ride-sharing concept that features retractable partitions to grant the desired level of privacy for individuals and air-purifying technology to supercharge the experience.
Elsewhere, designers are still making a point about the excessive use of single-use plastics and this activism is communicated through installations and other artworks. In New York City's Times Square, for example, Robin Frohardt debuts the Plastic Bag Store which is an immersive installation with multi-media components. Sweet Sneak Studio, on the other hand, partners with photographer Morten Bentzon for a visually impactful photo series on microplastics.
