Dulwich Gin is a premium London dry gin that’s packaged in bottles that are uniquely colored—in fact, no two gin bottle designs are the same. To create the one-of-a-kind digitally printed labels, HP Indigo’s Creative Tools was used with a database that could be read by the HP SmartStream Designer. While the coloring shuffling technique has been available for years, the designers desired more control over the placement of the colors, hence why a specific tech tool was created for the project. According to design strategist Silas Amos, Dulwich Gin can claim a world-first in using—and asking for—this more nuanced utilization of the software. That’s kind of fun, given the age of the original paintings.”
These next-gen gin bottles feature depictions of common people from South London’s Dulwich Picture Gallery, which opened to the public in 1817. As a result, the finished bottles combine a technological innovation with pieces of history from the Georgian era.
