Some of these 2018 architecture trends build on sustainability, others on efficiency. There are projects that celebrate nature through design, ones that embrace technology for functionality and those that boast relentless experimentation.
Rotterdam-based Rink Tilanus, for instance, completes an ultra-minimal concrete office in the Netherlands that is intended to support the actions of Dutch organization Natuurmonumenten. Another example of sustainable architecture proves to be Dot Architects' Huaxia Star Library in rural China. Thanks to an innovative approach to construction, the studio was able to complete its task in an eco-conscious and affordable manner in just seven days.
Of course, other examples in the 2018 architecture trends list spotlight structures that mimic nature. Zaha Hadid Architects and A-Lab team up to produce strategic design plans for two metro stations in Oslo that reference the Norwegian landscape in winter.
