Frank Gehry's Twisting Tower is Being Erected in Southern France
Kalin Ned — November 21, 2018 — Art & Design
This twisting tower has immense sculptural potential. Designed by Frank Gehry, the structure arises interest and appreciation among connoisseurs of architecture. Located in the south of France -- in the Luma Arles complex to be exact, the structure has a highly dynamic facade. The piece is clad in reflective aluminum which allows it to foster a strong relationship with its surroundings. The twisting tower is planned to reach 56 meters in height and the builders foresee its completion by 2020.
The legendary architect's inspiration for the aluminum-clad tower is quite interesting. Drawing on nearby forms and motifs, the irregular shape of Gehry's twisting tower evokes the "craggy rock formations found near the city."
