These new label-free Sprite bottles are being trialled by Coca-Cola in the UK in a bid to prioritize a more recyclable packaging option. The bottles will see the labels removed from the single 500ml serving sizes of Sprite and Sprite Zero with an embossed logo used instead with product and nutritional information laser-engraved onto the side. The bottles are also crafted from recycled PET, and will be differentiated between by shoppers with green and transparent caps for Sprite and Sprite Zero, respectively.
VP of Franchise Operations, Great Britain and Ireland at Coca-Cola Great Britain Dusan Stojankic commented on the new Sprite bottles saying, "We want to help create a future where plastic drink packaging will always have more than one life. Labels contain valuable information for consumers, but with the help of technology we can now trial other ways to share this information while reducing the amount of packaging we use.”
