Coca-Cola Great Britain has announced it will be updating its entire lineup of on the go soda bottles to 100% recycled plastic bottles in a bid to help highlight enhanced sustainability efforts.
The packaging update will see the recycled plastic bottles showing up on store shelves starting in September and is a marked increase from the brand's previous recycled material content that was rated at 50%. The move was made in partnership with Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) and is being launched alongside a shift to cardboard from plastic shrink wrap for the brand's multipacks.
General Manager at CCEP GB Stephen Moorhouse spoke on the 100% recycled plastic bottles saying, "Increasing the amount of recycled plastic we use is a critical point in our sustainable packaging journey and reaching 100%rPET puts us one step closer to achieving our ambition of a world without waste – collecting and recycling a bottle or can for every one that we sell by 2025.”
