Across the alcohol industry, packaging designs are being updated to reduce waste and lighten the load for shipping and Bacardi is introducing an innovative and eco-friendly spirits bottle of its own that's 100% biodegradable. The bottle uses seed oil in place of crude oil, so that the design can biodegrade in about 18 months—offering an alternative to regular plastic bottles, which take hundreds of years to break down fully.
Bacardi is on a mission to get the world’s most sustainable spirits bottle on shelves by 2023. The 100% biodegradable bottle has the potential to replace millions of bottles across Bacardi's many brands. Bacardi rum will be the first product to be packaged in the new bottle before it is introduced to others like Bombay Sapphire gin, Grey Goose vodka, Patrón tequila and more.
