Scratch-and-sniff products are typically designed to evoke the delightful aromas of sweet treats like chocolate, fruit or candy but La Poste, France's national postal service, took a different approach by creating a savory multi-sensory scented stamp. The scratch-and-sniff stamp designed by Stephane Humbert-Basset depicts a baguette and smells like one too, offering a delightful way for people to share the essence of one of the country's most beloved baked goods.
This commemorative stamp went on sale on the feast of Saint-Honoré, the patron saint of bakers and pastry chefs, and 594,000 copies were produced to share an authentic bakery scent with microcapsules of fragrance embedded in the ink.
This scented stamp feeds into a larger initiative that aims to get the public interested in traditional media, and the collection that this stamp is a part of also includes other meaningful French-inspiredillustrations with corresponding fragrances.
