The ‘Best QR Code Prank’ by Jack Vale was set up as a QR code giveaway, where a person would stand in line and be unable to get the QR code to work on their phone, only to have the next person in line win the big prize.
Tons of people crowded around the QR code in the hopes of simply scanning to win $1,000. For the prank, Jack Vale had the help of his wife, a friend and Nathan Kress. The QR code didn’t actually work for anybody, but these three people who were in on the prank pretended that they were the winners.
Technology can be fickle sometimes and this prank was designed to play on the frustrations of just that.
