The idea that nature pre-dates man, a statement that is obviously undeniable, has been explored by artists and designers who are looking to embrace escapism or to stimulate a greater respect for the natural environment. Most recently, another installation stated that nature pre-dates man, and its use of rich textures and color palettes definitely sends an optimistic message.
The site-specific Volée installation was designed by Serena Confalonieri. Located at the Teatro dei Ragazzi in Turin, the artistic activation was part of the Woodland art and design exhibition during the Nitto ATP Finals tennis tournament. Serena Confalonieri was commissioned by LEA (Lead Exclusive Area), which is associated with the event. Volée installation gave visitors the opportunity "to experience a return to nature; a place where humans are free from the effects of civilization and can live a life guided by instincts."
