Designer Carlo Ratti and energy company Eni have designed an installation that demonstrates plants' vital role in producing oxygen. The installation is entitled 'Natural Capital' and will be exhibited at Milan Design Week 2021.
The installation will be located inside Milan's botanical gardens to create a connection between art and nature. The design will be one of the largest data visualizations ever produced and show how much CO2 each tree stores. In addition, the installation will promote forestry protection by exhibiting how much oxygen each tree produces and highlight to its audiences how detrimental deforestation is. The installation will span over 500 square meters of the garden and feature a series of floating bubbles - each bubble size will reflect the amount of oxygen each plant produces.
The installation takes part in INTERNI's 'Creative Connections' exhibition from September 4 to 12.
